INTO THE WOODS. Forest Haven Mental Asylum for the Insane. (PHOTOS HERE: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.3047279310068.2122846.1505750663&type=3) Forest Haven is an abandoned mental asylum in Laurel, MD. Which should have been warning in and of itself but no — it gets worse. It is an abandoned children’s mental asylum. That may or may not have been shut down due to malpractice and mistreatment of patients (unconfirmed). So of course it was perfectly logical for my urban exploration partner and I (the guy who also went with me to trapeze around the USS New Jersey in Camden, NJ: http://coppercosmonaut.tumblr.com/post/11572891754/part-2-of-the-un-authorized-uss-new-jersey) to go photograph through it. Truth be told, I was fine until we came upon the actual medical building of the asylum (up until then we had discovered the dorms, the admin building, the athletic building, and the classrooms). I didn’t want to go in. All of the windows, unlike the other buildings, seemed completely dark. And as much as I am a scaredy cat sometimes, there was truly something not right about that building. We poked around the first floor before I shakily told him that I would like to leave. Immediately. Anyway, these are untouched and unedited.
